Streetlighting

Not all street lights are equal, and not all street lights are maintained by the same people. If you know who the light belongs to, it is best to report a broken or damaged one to the owner. If, like most people, you have no idea whose light it is, please let us know that it is broken. It would help us if you made a note of the four digit number on the pole. As a general guide, if the light goes out at midnight, it belongs to Essex County Council and you can report the problem here. If the light normally stays on all night, it is one of the Parish Council’s. The Parish Council owns 41 lights within the village in 2018 they got upgraded to LED lighting.
